Nyakio

If you've picked up an In Style magazine in the past year or so, no doubt you've already read the rave reviews about the Kenyan Coffee & Sugar Body Scrub (smells so yum.) I like Nyakio's Kamoche's story, a former worker bee in the entertainment industry, she decided to engage her passion after 9/11 and do what makes her happy. A self professed product junkie, she drew upon her rich Kenyan heritage and created a bath and body line that has been successful from day one. Blessed with good fortune, she launched her product line in 2002 just six months after quitting her day job, and has more than tripled her success since then. Her products are available at the most exclusive retailers in the United States and in selected nations in Europe, you can also purchase her products online at www.nyakio.com

On Screen - Daddy's Little Girls

My future baby daddy once I meet him, has a lead role in Tyler Perry's new film that's being released in the US today, Daddy's Little Girls. The general gist is a woman finally finds love where she least expected it, with a man who actually loves and wants to care for his children. If, I see it this weekend (doubtful because I won't enjoy the crowded-talk back to the screen theaters), it will be strictly to get a great view of this man candy!

Happy V-Day!

This is supposed to be my homemade Valentine's Day Card to y'all. Enjoy!

On Screen - Norbit

I want to see this movie, Norbit. I know it will be ridicoulsy silly, but I deserve the laughs. Zimbabwean/British beauty Thandiwe Newton play's Kate, Norbit's love interest. My guess is that they end up together depsite various interferences from Rasputia his overbearing fiancee.

Lulu Preggers?

It would seem like our favorite African model has been missing from the catwalk during Mercedes-Benz Fall 2007 New York Fashion Week, notably from the Luca Luca show, where everyone always expects to see her walk the runway. This just adds fuel to the fire that she is indeed preggers... ok so maybe I'm the only one who considers it a fire. Congrats to her!

Wubet - you bet!

A while ago, I was having drinks at Moya while meeting up with some people, who were having an event there. They kept me waiting and I happened to leaf through an Ethiopian lifestyle magazine that was available for sale there, and came across an article about wubet. After I read about the line, I made sure to visit their website, and came across several items that are now on my birthday wish list. It's a line of handbags that's a collaborated effort of Sara Abera, an Ethiopian textile designer, and Arnold Haas, a designer. These bags are created with traditional woven Ethiopian cloth, leather, beading and various metals, they're incredible unique pieces too.

I want this bag, anyone feel like gifting it to me? I have the perfect outfit(s) to go with it too

The line is available for sale in many locations throughout Asia and Europe. Check out the rest of the collection here or by visiting www.wubet.com

Afrique Netizens

Since my mother decided to let us get that aol account in 1995 and I was first exposed to the internet, I've had the opportunity to view tons of websites. Some good, some horrible, some now defunct. They're also quite a number of African related sites online, that I tend to visit on a regular basis, for a variety of reasons. Today I'm featuring a site that often provides comic relief for me, www.mashada.com. Since I've been living in Atlanta, I've come in contact with a large Kenyan community, who like to live in Cobb county and have parties with tons of beer. I think I got a postcard for this website there, and decided to have a look see sometime in 2003, and I keep going back.

It really is a vibrant online meeting place for Kenyans all around the diaspora. They have some real comedians in their discussion forums, occasionally some of the posts are in their native languages (Luo, Kikuyu, Swahili, etc) but I get the general gist most times.

E-Male - Awaovieyi Agie

You might remember this little known Canadian based actor from his small roles in the Four Brothers or even as Musa in Tears of the Sun a few years back (I have major beef with that movie but this is not the proper forum to air it... at least not while we're all admiring). He was last seen on Canadian television, playing the role of Azu Chidoka in the pilot for a show called Hotel Babylon.

Who is Blessing Odaise?

I've been hearing that Prince Albert of Monaco has done it again, dating yet another African woman. Her name is Blessing Odaise, an Italian based model/singer. Take what you want from that...

Below is this clip that's been on Youtube, the Prince is celebrating something with Blessing and she's giving an interview, can't say she reminds me of Grace Kelly in any way shape or form, though I'm sure she's nice.

Here's a link to her website
